- ABSTRACT -
To talk about vintage pencils of A.W. FABER, the most famous one must be the Polygrade pencils that contributed in making today's Faber Castell.
As the name Poly-grade tells, it provided pencils in diverse grades, and launched in 1837 in Paris.
Although it is common to us for now, it was A.W. FABER's first pencil with various grades.
There are Polygrade pencils with round body (2) and hexagonal body (3).
Another meaningful one is the leadholder in (4).
It was based on the patent published in Aug, 13th, 1861 by Lothar von Faber.
In some sense, it could be called as the first leadholder in the world even though the ancestral form dates back much earlier.
Another notable one are Royal Metal editions.
They are gold and silver plated pencils, and you can read story related about it in the post.
Jewelen der bleistift-kunst must be one of the most beautiful pencils in the history of Faber Castell.
If you haven't seen those pencils yet, you should watch them!
Faber company also made various pocket pencils with diverse pencil holders.
Those pencils have common short body, while the shape could be flat or circular.
Compared to short tiny pencils, there had been several giant pencils and they are one of my favorites.
