FABER CASTELL 250TH ANNIVERSARY BOOK (2011)

Faber Castell, the world's first pencil maker company founded in 1761, met its monumental 250th birthday in 2011.
In 1861, A.W. FABER celebrated its 100th birthday by establishing the first church in Stein.
In September 16th, 1861, Lothar Faber held a huge festival to celebrate its 100th birthday and for the employee and villagers.

For the 150th birthday in 1911, A.W. FABER released the well-known anniversary pencil with its own unique tin case (Incidentally, there are two different versions for this case but I don't know what made this difference.)
I also have Castell 9000 made in 1911, and this also celebrates its 150th birthday.

In 1961, for its 200th birthday, Faber Castell produced a giant triangular anniversary pencil with the landscapes of its plants on it.
More information about its anniversaries can be found in this post.

In 2011, Faber Castell congratulated its 250th birthday in diverse ways.
Graf von Faber Castell presented Elemento Olive series, and POTY 2011 were made in 1761 pieces to commemorate its anniversary.
Also made are Faber Castell logo pencils, and this book was published too.

The book has so many contents, so I can't show you everything in detail.
Let me briefly discuss some of them though.

First, the above page is quite interested.
The pencil on the right is one of the earliest type Castell 9000 pencil.
What is on the left seems to be the famous Polygrade pencil.
The place of Polygrade pencils was gradually replaced by Castell 9000 pencils.
I don't know when exactly A.W. FABER stopped making Polygrade pencils, but this one has the balance symbol that was believed to be introduced in 1914.

This one looks awesome.
Could this be one of the oldest A.W. FABER's pens existing in the world?

The Polygrade pencil!
I explained much about the Polygrade pencils in the earlier post.
There is also written the patent act about its brand name.
There appeared many copycat Polygrade pencils after A.W. FABER made a huge success, so Lothar Faber had to claim its originality.

Some of these can be found in the 222nd anniversary Castell 9000 pencils.

Articles about the Castell pencil.
Castell pencils were the masterpiece of A.W. FABER, which was released in 1905 to defeat reigning champion of the day, Koh-I-Noor pencils.

It seems this lot of Castell pencils and pencil accessories are exhibited in the Faber Castell headquarter.
I hope to visit there and see this in person someday.

FABER CASTELL 250TH ANNIVERSARY BOOK (2011)

It was January 21st of 2016 that we saw a great star has fallen.
Anton Wolfgang Graf von Faber-Castell, who led the 8th generation of Faber Castell and founded the luxurious Graf von Faber Castell lines, passed away in 2016.
He visited Korea in 2011 as a part of the world tour celebrating its 250th birthday.
Still, it's one of my greatest resentment that I didn't attend the place.
