On the other day, I posted about Faber Castell's royal metal edition.
It was contained in a vintage wooden case.
Surprisingly, these pencils have another version, which seems to be made later.
Was this edition so special to have two types of versions?
Compared to the other version which comes with small vintage wooden case, this version is contained in the atmospheric big box.
On the black parer box, it is written "Castell 9000 / Royal metal edition gold plated and silver plated / Faber-Castell" in a classy way in gold color.
Opening it, we meet this view.
The paper insert is the same as that was in another version.
It explains the background about why this special edition is made.
Again, it's not known whether this story is real or fake.
The paper insert is not folded.
The general story is like this.
In the early 20th century, a rich man named El Nehud Abdullah asked Faber Castell to produce 1000 pieces of gold plated castell 9000 pencils to commemorate his son's wedding.
It also emphasizes the difficulty of plating gold on castell 9000 pencils.
This royal metal edition was made to celebrate this historic event.
There are two pencils - one is gold and the other is silver.
We already met royal silver edition before.
Royal gold edition is produced in exactly opposite way.
It has a gold body with silver letters.
They are so shining that it is hard to read the letters.
I'm curious of whether they are real gold and silver.
I hope they are real gold and silver since it will make them more valuable.
There is another paper insert.
It looks like an advertisement for these pencils.
Under the item no. 119066, you will receive 1 gross Castell 9000 HB (original packed) at a price of DM 143.92* now also a real one gold-plated pencil (limited edition).
Under the item no. 119067, you get with 1/2 gross Castell 9000 HB (original packaging) at the price of DM 71.96** now an additional one real silver-plated pencil (limited edition)
Based on this, royal metal editions were given as a gift for buying castell 9000 pencils.
Considering its age, 144 DM now has the value of around 90$ or more.
Anyway, this tells us two things.
First, they were limited editions.
Second, they are real gold and silver plated!
