The description about Najeonchilgi.
Najeonchilgi is a Korean traditional art, like Japan's Maki-e, which uses mother of pearl.
When I saw Graf von Faber Castell's POTY 2016, made of Maki-e style, I've always thought POTY with Najeonchilgi style would be very delightful.
Even though Faber Castell made basic series with mother of pearl, and A.W. FABER once made mother of pearl dip pen, Graf von Faber Castell has never made pens with mother of pearls.
Therefore I had no choice but to seek for Faber Castell's Najeonchilgi pen by myself!
I personally contacted a Korean Najeonchilgi master artisan for this request.
It took nearly half year to get this pen.
As I waited for a long time, it was definitely a thrilling moment when the work finished and I met the pen in person.
I chosen Graf von Faber Castell's Intuition fountain pen as a base.
Since the Intuition model has a very well-made design that perfectly suits for the Najeonchilgi.
Its black body would accentuate the rainbow color of mother of pearls.
I requested the artisan to decorate both the cap and the barrel.
The full Moon locates at the top.
There are several apricot flowers.
The apricot flowers were mainly used in ancient Korean arts, since it had the meaning of strong will that doesn't yield under the difficulties.
There are also apricot flowers in the barrel.
There are many blank spaces both in the cap and the barrel.
"The beauty of blank spaces" is a Korean ancient art technique.
In Korean ancient art, the blank space is not just an empty space, but an infinite potential with a room to think about.
Therefore, the pen was not fully covered with the patterns.
The perfect house for this pen must be the Najeonchilgi Giwa house!
Since I love Najeonchilgi style so much, I even have the phone case with Najeonchilgi style.
I even went to the Najeonchilgi store.
As you can see, Najeonchilgi usually used to decorate furniture in the past.
In 2024, Najeonchilgi met with the Western fountain pen, especially the Faber Castell!
What an astonishing encounter!

Both pens are adorable for sure, but I convince the below one is a true masterpiece.
