FABER CASTELL CASTELLO MIT VENTILTANK

I've posted several castello fountain pens, and this one is another castello series with new function!
Its name is Castello MIT ventiltank.
I don't know what MIT stands for, but the ventiltank is the essence of this pen.

The design is the same as other castello fountain pens, but it has a window on the barrel that enables users to see the ink remain even when the cap is closed.
As will be talked later, this part acts as an additional ink reservoir.

The model number is 53VT.
I bet VT surely refers to ventiltank.

It has an arrow mark and two semicircle marks at the end.
To know for what they are, I enclose an instuction manual that I found on the internet.

Important note and instructions for the school fountain pen CASTELLO:
Every user should handle themselves and the CASTELLO carefully. Please only use high-quality branded ink, as recommended by experienced professionals. The pen is manufactured with precision machines, ensuring a long lifespan. It is crucial to treat the school fountain pen with care.

To fill the pen, turn the pump cap fully to the left. Then, immerse the nib into the ink until it reaches the bottom of the writing grip. Turn the pump cap back to the right until it stops.

The pen is now filled. The green protective ring on the writing grip facilitates cleaning of excess ink and encourages cleanliness.

Valve Tank: The innovative valve tank is automatically filled during the filling process. The ink reserve in the valve tank can be used when the pen is empty.

Opening the Valve Tank: Half-circular markings are located at the end of the pen shaft. Lift the pen vertically, turn it in the arrow direction until the markings align. This opens the valve of the ink reserve. Tilt the pen slightly to allow the ink to flow into the ink chamber. Afterward, turn the pump cap back to its original position, and the pen is ready to write again.

During normal refilling, the valve tank is also filled, even if the ink reserve was not used, ensuring that the valve tank always receives fresh ink.

This view makes the instuction manual clearer.
It has two windows, the above one shows the ink chamber while the below one shows the ink reservoir.

When the user runs out of the ink, one can rotate the back end of the pen until two semicircles aligned to make a full circle.
The ventil tank is open when they align, and the ink reserve releases its spare ink.

This innovative idea allows us a second chance when we forgot to fill the ink.
What a merciful idea!
