In 1971, Faber Castell presented 6 types of fountain pens, ballpoint pens, and mechanical pencils with luxurious material.
They were sold in very expensive prices, even considering it was the early 1970s, and this must have been the first attempt to gentrify Faber Castell pens under the name Graf von Faber Castell.

These pens were surprisingly sold under both the name Graf von Faber Castell and A.W. FABER-CASTELL.
To be precise, these models were not made by Faber Castell.
These models were in fact made by Rodi and Wienenberger (ROWI), the local jewelry factory in Pforzheim, on behalf of Faber Castell from 1971 to 1975.

Model numbers of fountain pens run from 5000 to 5006, ballpoint pens from 5030 to 5036, and mechanical pencils from 5050 to 5056.
One such example is 5003 fountain pen, made of gold and sterling silver, I posted in the past.

Models that end with '0' were made of 18k gold and lapis lazuli, '1' and '2' were made of 14k gold and chrysoprase, '3' were made of sterling silver and gold, '4' and '5' were made of sterling silver and jasper, and '6' were made of rolled-gold double.
As can be expected, the prices had the order 5000 (670 DM) > 5001 = 5002 (450 DM) > 5003 (350 DM) > 5004 = 5005 (225 DM) > 5006 (130DM).

Ah, it was a very very long introduction!
We should stop taking a detour and face the protagonist!
As I explained, this 5002 model is made of 14k gold and chrysoprase.
Being goldy is always goody.

Except for the rolled gold model, all the series feature this Faber Castell's tri color crest on the clip.
As we've seen in here, this quite resembles the wappen of Stein.
This symbol is still now representing the logo of Graf von Faber Castell.

There's a chrysoprase on top of the cap.
This reminds me of modern POTYs of Graf von Faber Castell.
Except for some early POTYs, POTYs always have a gemstone on the cap.
In many aspects, these 500x series could be treated as the prototype for gentrification of Faber Castell.

It is written "5002, A.W.FABER-CASTELL, 0.585, Germamy."
0.585 stands for 14k gold.
The fact the whole body is made of 14k gold is very nice.

5001 and 5002 fountain pens were made of the same material (14k gold and chrysoprase), and the difference was their patterns.
This 5002 model has somewhat lightning sign(⚡️) like patterns while 5001 model has coarse patterns.

Nothing on the backend.
It is a simple convex gold finish.

All 500x series share the same grip and nib.
This rubber-like grip and 18k gold nib were even used for 518 fountain pen.
The nib looks relatively monotonous compared to the pen itself however, even taking it is a 18k gold nib into account.
