When appeared the first Graf von Faber Castell pens?
Graf von Faber Castell we know, the highend brand of Faber Castell, was established in 1993, so the answer would be 1993.

Surprisingly, this is the wrong answer.
As far as I know, the answer is 1971, althought this answer might be controversial.
The reason is this.

From 1971 to 1975, A.W.FABER CASTELL introduced the very luxurious pens made of gold and silver, and decorated with some gemstones.
Just as the way today's Graf von Faber Castell designs luxurious pens!
How could Faber Castell do this?

These pens were made by the Rodi and Wienerberger, the jewellery crafting company in Pforzheim.
The company crafted these series on behalf of Faber Castell, and used the name Graf von Faber Castell.

The relationship is quite close to the way today's POTYs were made.
Graf von Faber Castell selects artisans with exceeding technique, and the chosen material is usually gold, silver, and some gemstones.

Talking about their numberings, fountain pens run from 5000 to 5006, ballpoint pens from 5030 to 5036, and mechanical pencils from 5050 to 5056.

A.W.FABER CASTELL 5003.
This fountain pen is made of gold and silver.
0.925 refers to the sterling silver, and it doesn't tell the purity of the gold.

I guess it is made of 14K gold based on the price list.
5002 model is made of 14K gold, and 5004 model is made of sterling silver.
Price of 5003 model is located between that of 5002 and 5004 models.

Anyway, both the cap and the barrel is decorated with vertical stripes of gold and silver.

The nib and grip parts are relatively simple considering its design and its position.
These models were released as the most extravagant models, just like POTYs.
Anyway, it tells the nib size is OB.

Faber Castell's 18K gold nib.
Although Osmia's fountain pens used 14K bicolor or single color gold nibs, Faber Castell fountain pens in 1970s used 18K gold nibs.
