FABER CASTELL 235TH ANNIVERSARY PENCILS (1996)
파버카스텔 235주년 연필 (1996)
I feel like I've quite completed collecting Faber Castell's anniversary series with this last piece of the puzzle.
Since its foundation in 1761, Faber Castell has celebrated many anniversaries, and most of them are documented in this post.
Starting from 150th anniversary in 1911, 175th anniversary in 1936, 200th anniversary in 1961, 225th anniversary in 1986, 230th anniversary in 1991, 240th anniaversary in 2001, 245th anniversary in 2006, 250th anniversary in 2011, and 260th anniversary in 2016.
For a long time, 235th anniversary in 1996 was a missing piece in my collection.
I'm still finding the existence of new anniversary items of Faber Castell.
I know there existed some anniversary cups, but I'm meaning pens or leaflets.
Anyway, it's a pleasure to obtain these pencils.
What number is this?
An article number?
716 089 99453.
Three pencils are here.
All are round pencils and each of them has blue, black, and white colors.
Each pencil has a different meaning.
The wood is dyed in black color and the front is neatly sharpened.
The blue pencil commemorates 700th birth day of Stein.
Many vintage Faber Castell pens have the phrase "Stein bei Nürnberg."
Stein is a town in Bavaria and the earliest historical document that mentions Stein was made in 1296.
Stein is where Schloss Faber-Castell is located and where Faber Castell has thrived.
It's highly meaningful that Faber Castell, which earned the prosperity of Stein, celebrates its 700th birthday.
The black pencil says "Ein Stift-Gruß in den Farben der Stadt Stein!" ("A pen greeting in the colors of the city of Stein!")
To find out what it means, we need to watch the Stein's coat-of-arm.
The coat-of-arm of Stein looks surprisingly analogous to that of Faber Castell!
As the pencils says its color combination is just the same as the colors of the pencils.
This was why Faber Castell chose blue, black, and white colors.
By the way, it's impressive Stein's coat-of-arm has pencils in it, and this must be due to the fact that the history of Stein cannot be separated from Faber Castell.
Finally, the white pencil congratulates Faber Castell's 235th birthday!
In many ways, 1996 was a very significant year to Faber Castell.
Time flies too fast and Faber Castell is soon meeting its 265th anniversary next year.
I wonder what Faber Castell will present then.
Faber Castell's names at the end.
Nothing on the backside.
