Anton Wolfgang Graf von Faber Castell, the founder of the luxurious lines "Graf von Faber-Castell," visited Japan in 2000.
The fine writing brand Graf von Faber Castell was launched in 1993 and one of its flagship was Perfect Pencil Deskset.
To celebrate Anton's monumental visit, a special Deskset limited only in 200 pieces was made.
Now, be prepared to face a tycoon!

"Eine Cassette
*hochfeiner Taschenbleistifte*
Nr. 1, schwarz"
"A set of very fine pocket pencils No.1, black."

Some paper inserts including the certificate and instruction.
Its serial number is "DDxxx" where the last three digit coincides with the limited model number, i.e. (xxx/200).

Incidentally, the serial number is very notable.
The serial number seems to have started from AAxxx in 1993, as you can see this one of the earliest Deskset.
Beginning from AA, AB, ... we now learned the numbering reached DD in 2000.
Or possibly, this "DDxxx" serial mumber might have been exclusively dedicated to these special models.
In that case, there only exist from DD001 to DD200.

Deskset comes in two colors - brown and black.
These limited editions were only made based on the black color version as far as I know.
Unlike the earlier Deskset in the above link, it doesn't have an additional sharpner since it is internally equipped in the Perfect Pencil.

It might not be visible well, but the serial number is located on the case as well.
LIMITED EDITION xxx/200.
By the way, the case looks dirty but they are not rusts or stains.
Rather, they are bubbles under the protecting film.

Five spare pencils with a Perfect Pencil.
Earlier Deskset was furnished with four spare pencils, however this one has five.
Is it because it doesn't contain a silver sharpner?

The Perfect Pencil has an imprinting of the Anton's signature.
One interesting point I'd like to mention is, this Perfect Pencil was obviously made in 2000.
Throughout this blog, I've remarked the generations of Perfect Pencil several times.

The first generation, which can be found in the above link of Deskset has a clearly different appearance.
On the other hand, the second and the third generations are very similar.
The feature of the second generation is the middle part that grabs the pencil.
It becomes loose when one unscrews the middle part, whereas it becomes tight when the middle part is closed.

When was the transition period between these generations?
No wonder fhe first generation started in 1993.
It is said that it changed into the second generation in 1999.
However, in 2000, we already got this third generation model that we can see today.
If everything doesn't lie, the second generation was made only for around a year!

The end piece is made of sterling silver.

The cap is made of sterling silver too.
Graf von Faber Castell's sterling silver pens have double-crown at top of the cap.
You can find the same style in the Classic sterling silver model and Heritage Alexander.
There's an imprint of the serial number. (xxx/200)

A closeup view of the signature.
He is the man who started the history of the Perfect Pencil.
What a substantially meaningful pen!
