What would be the proper name to call this tiny pencil?
Is there any specific classification for this kind of pencil?
Being ignorant about it, let me simply name this a tiny pencil with an ivory top.

A.W. FABER made such tiny pencils with spherical tops in 1800s.
Excuse my short knowledge, I don't know the role of this notwithstanding.
Taking its tiny size into account, I speculate these pencils were intended to be portable and the ring at the end would have done the same handy role.

I could find some similar tiny pencils in the 250th anniversary book of Faber Castell.
There are many tiny pencils with tops - some have rings, others don't have rings or even don't have the tops, and the others have strings.
My pencil has a triangular ring, but this type isn't listed in this photo.

In terms of the color and the pattern, it most resembles the one on the bottom right.
Among three pencils on the bottom right, the first one has two crossing diagonal lines and has a reddish brown color.

Interestingly, the third pencil of this group has the same plaid pattern as the pencil I posted earlier.
It seems this plaid pattern pencils were made in various versions.

Not only the short length, but its thickness also is highly thin.
If you grab this too strongly, it might be broken down easily.

I tried to do my best though, do you see the pattern well?
Unlike the pencil on the photo with two crossing diagonal lines, this pencil rather has a repetitive rhombus patterns.
One type of rhombus is plain, while the other type of rhombus has intagliated dot patterns.
Two different types of rhombus are adjacent, so the same type never touches itself.

Spherical top and triangular ring attached on it.
Did people tied a string here and hung it on somewhere like a necklace?

Triangular ring pencils could be found from the other catalog of 19th century.
The way letters are written are like 5380 pencil, the ring is the same as 5384 pencil on the other hand.
By the way, what is the word written on the 5384 pencil?

Still, this tiny pencil couldn't break the record of No.6296 pencil!
I thought this pencil was too small enough, yet No.6296 pencil was even shorter and thinner!
