FABER CASTELL PROGRESS 55G SET

Progress was started as an Osmia's product line in 1930s before Faber Castell started to acquire the company.
As time goes on, the product line narrowed down to three models 55, 66, and 77.
You can find all three models in the above link.
66 models especially had limited edition version, 66RG model with rolled gold cap.

I once posted Progress 55S set of fountain pen and ballpoint pen.
The difference between 55S and 55G models are the nib.
It is said 55S model has steel nib, while 55G model has 14K gold nib. (The 55S models in fact have gold color nibs, but I guess these are not real gold contained nibs.)

Guarantee for 10 years.
Sadly, the pen was made more than 60 years ago, but it doesn't make any problen since the nib still works well.
It's nice to see both diamond logo of Osmia and the wappen of Faber Castell at the same time.

Instruction manual for progress lines.
It seems Progress models were button fillers when Osmia first launched them in 1930s, but all Faber Castell's progress fountain pens have the piston filling mechanism.

55 models were the cheapest one.
I know 66RG model was 28.5 DM, and the price range of Progress models started from 8.5 DM. (Reference)
It says there were five price ranges.
All existed Progress models were 55S/55G/66G/66RG/77S/77G. (I never saw 66S.)
It's not easy to pinpoint the price of each model, but I naturally envisage 8.5 DM was for 55S model while 28.5 DM was for 66RG model.

8.5 DM in the late 1950s to early 60s now amounts to $22.6 (this tells 28.5 DM ~ $76) for now in a crude approximation.
This is a price for the fountain pen, and the price of ballpoint pens would have been cheaper.

FABER CASTELL PROGRESS 55G SET

Progress is written on the cap, and there is attached a sticker that tells the nib is 14K gold nib.

This one has a black colored barrel.

FABER CASTELL PROGRESS 55G SET

It doesn't have Osmia's mark on the cap.
The cap is metallic for 55 models, but 66 and 77 models have plastic caps except for the rolled gold one.

This one is 55 model's ballpoint pen counterpart.
The design is similar, but it doesn't have a wearable cap.

FABER CASTELL PROGRESS 55G SET

Its model name is KS 05.
KS refers to Kugelschreiber, the German word of ballpoint pen.
