A.W. FABER 1746 PENCIL & PENCIL CAP
A.W. FABER 1746연필 & 연필 캡
This pencil looks like a mediocre pencil at the first sight.
It's fortunate that it wears a cap, which suffices to entice the interest.
Model number 1746.
It is the only information to identify this pencil, I couldn't find anything about this on the internet though.
It has an asterisk symbol and I wonder whether this might tell its age.
Most antique A.W. FABER's pencils have letters starting from the left end, while this one has letters starting from the right end, which seems to be a rather modern style.
If this explanation was not clear, compare the letters of Polygrade pencils and Castell 9000 pencils.
The cap just fits the size!
The cap doesn't have a middle ring to grab and lose the pencil like this one.
As you can find in the catalog, A.W. FABER made both pencils caps with and without the middle ring.
The pencil caps I'm referring to are at the center of the catalog.
A.W. FABER's name on the backside.
The pencil has this phrase.
I have no idea what A.W. FABER meant with this.
The translator says it is an Italian words meaning "artistic circle."
How should I interpret this?
Should I take this pencil is for artistic field?
By the way, this one has a circular lead.
The pencil has been sharpened well, but the cap made some scratches.
Although cap perfectly fits the size, these scars are inevitable.
