A.W. FABER VINTAGE CASTELL 9000 IN PAPER CASE
A.W. FABER 카스텔 9000 종이 케이스
Not only the Castell 9000 pencil itself, but also castell 9000's tin case has diverse variations and has symbolic meaning.
I've posted lots of Castell 9000 pencils and tin cases in different versions.
This one, I'm introducing here, is another new type of Castell 9000!
Unlike the early Castell 9000 pencils contained in tin cases, this version comes with a paper case.
Hence, my interest naturally goes to the case, although the pencils are attractive too.
There are no balance symbol all over the case, so this version was made in the early 1900s, before Faber Castell adopted its balance symbol.
Some people say the balance trade mark had been used since 1914, so this was made earlier than that if they are correct.
The case has the drawing of two fighting knights as expected, but the new thing is the knights are drawn inside the wall of the castle like a window.
To open the case, one needs to simply pull the cover upwards.
There are explanation about the lead grade of Castell 9000 pencils on the backside of the case.
The degrees ran from 6B to 8H.
"Feinste Spitze. Grösste Zartheit des Striches. Geringste Abnützung daher Längste Dauer."
The pencils are mixed, it tells not every one of them is original.
Anyway, the fact they don't have the balance trademark corresponds to the feature of the case, so it's highly reasonable to claim some of them are original at least.
What are on the pencil : A.W.FABER's name, symbols of Castell castle, the name "CASTELL", and its degree 'H'.
As I said, no balance trademark anywhere.
This is the next generation of one of the earliest versions of Castell 9000.
Since this pencil is believed to be made no later than the early 1910s, I'd treat it as one of the first generation of Castell 9000 pencils too.
