OSMIA - A.W. FABER FOUNTAIN PEN 664

Osmia was founded in 1919 in Dossenheim and soon became the leading fountain pen maker in Germany.
Faber Castell started to acquire Osmia in 1935, and Osmia was completely acquired in 1951.
However, Faber Castell pens remained some Osmia's signs like its diamond trade mark upto 1960s to exploit its reputation.

Therefore, most Faber Castell vintage fountain pens were made under the name of Osmia.
That explains why my collections of vintage Faber Castell pens have both names of Osmia and Faber Castell.

The above model is Osmia 664, and I once uploaded the same model in the past.
Nevertheless, the reason I upload this will be clear soon.

The whole body is mainly black color.
The end of the cap has two gold trims, and Osmia's name is inscribed on the gold clip.

Osmia's diamond trade mark on the cap.
Its trade mark has long been remained even after Faber Castell fully acquired Osmia.

Here is the keypoint!
If you compare this part with the same model, the difference can easily be spotted.
There is no Osmia's name and simply written A.W. FABER!

In the above post, I explained the change of notation Faber Castell put its name on its fountain pens.
Nearly all fountain pens belong to one of the three cases: A.W.FABER-CASTELL DOSSENHEIM HEIDELBERG, A.W.FABER-CASTELL, and FABER CASTELL.
The notation has changed as time goes on, but there were tremendous exceptions.

History of Faber Castell - Osmia

I took photos of all cases I have.
The story would be long, so I'd better discuss about it in the other post.

This one has a Castell nib, which can be seen the Gentleman models and the Wertfüllhalter models.

The age of this pen is quite mysterious.
Judging from the fact it has no Osmia's name on the barrel, I can only guess this was made in the middle of Faber Castell tried to remove the name of Osmia.
Of course, it could be wrong and this might come from right after Faber Castell began to acquire Osmia.
One could think that way since it is using the name A.W. FABER, not A.W.FABER-CASTELL.
The truth is not known.
