Throughout its existence, Apis had tried diverse attempts.
Among such diverse kinds of fountain pens, this one was a banger that Apis devoted itself a lot.
It comes in a golden paper box, in align with its name.
This is a F14K-B fountain pen.
As the name says, it is coated in a real gold.
While Apis made various gold colored pens, there are not many real gold pens.
Gold fountain pens are truly in the realm of luxury item, hence most Korean people could not afford to spend money on such things.
Korea started as a poor country after its independence from Japan, and suffered Korean War and IMF crisis.
After all, Korea didn't have enough time to grow and restore economically.
It means that only few selected people could spare their money on such luxury goods.
The price of real gold fountain pens feel like a burden even to modern Korean people.
Could you imagine how much demand would have been there for this fountain pen?
Since the pen was available only for the few privileged class, I guess Apis didn't need to make many real gold pens.
There's no need to say the price must have been quite expensive.
The whole body of fountain pen is gold.
Apis didn't explicitly write which purity of gold was used though.
Gold pens sometimes have words like 585 or 750 on their bodies to indicate its purity, but it's not for this model.
You might think it would be 14K gold as its model name states, but there is no guarantee that both the nib and the body were made of the same gold.
Nevertheless, I agree that this naive expectation is the most probable one.
This point must be a very nice thing.
The end of the cap was cut in polygon shape and adorned with diagonal patterns.
Between two gold polygon rings is a solid gold, where Apis's name is delicately inscribed.
The clip is also a solid gold and shines brightly.
It is simply written F14K, but the exact name is F14K-B.
It's natural to expect the existence of F14K-A, and it is correct - that model has slightly different appearance.
The cap, the clip, both ends of the pen, and there might be further different spots.
Top and bottom of the pen are flat blacl dots.
Both the cap and the barrel has vertical stripe patterns.
The pattern is the very basic one, but this one would never face a dislike.
I just wanted to show how the clip shines clearly.
There are many Apis nibs with gold color, but this one is the real gold nib!
Being proud of itself, the nib claims it is made of 14K gold.
As an in-house nib maker, Apis had enough technique to make gold nibs.
Considering 14K gold nibs are quite common in many fountain pens, I didn't think Apis didn't make many gold nibs because of its shortage of the technique.
Rather, it would have been resulted from the insufficient fund as I said at the top of the post.
There is also a curly 'A' shaped logo of Apis, which can be seen easily in other Apis nibs.
The grip has several vertical grooves and it is as a matter of fact identical exactly to the grip of some other Apis fountain pens like this one.
The grip part is thereby a bit disappointing.
