VARIOUS VINTAGE CASTELL 9000 PENCILS
다양한 과거의 카스텔 9000 연필과 케이스들
Castell 9000 was released 118 years ago, and there have been uncountable variations of the pencil.
It is practically impossible to track and collect all the variations.
Still, I have some well-known castell 9000 tin cases and pencils.
This one might be the most famous one.
The tin case with fighting knights, which implies castell 9000 beating KOH-I-NOOR pencil, the rival of A.W. FABER at that moment.
As you can see here, the beginning model of castell 9000 had no balance trade mark.
As far as I know, it became the trade mark after A.W. FABER took over a company with balance trade mark.
A.W. FABER needed its own trade mark, so they used this symbol.
Anyway, this pencil has a balance mark, and made in Bavaria.
This is another variation.
The knights were simplified, and the balance mark appeared on the tin case.
If you compare this pencil with the above one carefully, you will notice that the balance marks are slightly different.
The balance mark also became simplified after some time.
This looks the same, but the interior is a bit different.
There is no balance mark on the pencil, but it doesn't mean that this belongs to the beginning model.
Some U.S.A castell 9000 pencils don't have the balance sign.
Even the way "9000" is written is different for other versions.
And although this pencil has gold characters, some other pencils have silver characters.
A.W. FABER became Faber Castell, and they started to print new symbol on the tin case.
This new symbol appeared around 1950, and it is the coat of arms of Faber Castell.
All pencils are different.
There are so many variartions.
This one has gold stripe at the tail, but some others have silver stripe.
Now, it is not the tin case, but the silver paper box.
In fact, paper box is much more familiar to us in these days.
Modern castell 9000 pencils are contained in the paper boxes.
--------------------------------
I don't know what's inside since I never unwrapped it, but the color is that of castell 9000 so I list this tin case in this post.
This tin case doesn't have the metal color unlike any other tin cases and I like that point.
This green color represents Faber Castell.
And these are the pencils what we see today.
Castell 9000 with the current symbol.
Even this model has two versions, and this is the older version in fact.
The position of the degree of hardness is different.
Current castell 9000 pencils have the hardness mark at the tail part, but this one has it in the middle part. (between 9000 and FABER CASTELL)
This is castell 9000 with an eraser.
The paper box is not new to us.
In the past, castell 9000 with an eraser had different numbering - castell 9007.
Still, there are so many other kinds of variations.
Although I don't collect all the different models, but finding new designs is one of the funniest moment for castell 9000 collectors.
